Our table yesterday: lamb and mint pie, beef and ale pie, chicken pot pie, baked ham (peeking out from behind the crudites and pesto dip), sauteed green beans, Brussels sprouts in bacon and onions, rice dressing with tasso, French carrot salad, biscuits, Dijon mustard and, holding down the end of the table, reader James C.’s applesauce bread, incarnated as muffins. There was rum punch and prosecco and all kinds of other things to drink too. And, praise the Lord, this morning there is Advil. 😉
