The other day in Crete, the Ecumenical Patriarch visited a monastery church dedicated to St. John the Baptist, and a white dove landed on the Gospel Book as the patriarch and the priests were about to process in to the church. The dove then alighted on the priest carrying the Gospel book, and remained there until another priest inside the church caught the dove and released him. More photos here.

Christians will note the Gospel account (Matthew 3:16) of St. John baptizing Jesus, who emerged from the Jordan and had the Holy Spirit descend upon him as a dove. Nice.
