Do you recall my posting this photo last summer of a canebrake rattler we killed near where some kids were fishing? He’s so freshly dead in this shot that his rattle is still erect. When I put this up, some readers were put out with me for killing the snake instead of shooing it off somewhere.

Rattlesnakes are everywhere here in Louisiana this summer. In our parish alone, four people have been bitten by rattlers in the past month alone, including the brother of a friend of mine. We just received the news that a rattler today killed Sizzles, the sweet little dog that belongs to our good friends. I hate these damn reptiles with a passion.

I say avenge Sizzles! Mr. Mayor, declare Whacking Day, now!
