In the latest episode of Empire Has No Clothes, we spoke with Emma Ashford of the Cato Institute about how to define the foreign policy “Blob” and her article earlier this year in which she responded to a defense of the foreign policy establishment’s record. We talked to her about the wisdom of NATO expansion past and present, and the limited range of foreign policy debate in Washington. In the other half of the show, we discussed the recent fight over Russia policy that broke out between advocates of greater flexibility and hard-liners committed to ever-increasing sanctions.
