David Brooks on PBS just now said that the McGovern Coalition — college students, white liberals, ethnic voters — is starting to look like the American majority. This, 40 years after McGovern ran for president.

That’s huge. Huge!

Over on ABC, all of the panelists, including George F. Will, agreed that the demographic changes in America are a huge factor this year, and probably signals a permanent change in the US electorate.

I think when it’s all over after tonight, that will likely be the major story from the 2012 election. I believe it was Will who said that this will be the last election in which someone will try to win the presidency by winning all the white vote.
