The U.S. Must Stop Enabling War Crimes in Yemen

The Saudi-led coalition killed [1] over two dozen people when its forces bombed a hotel and market in Saada province:

Medics and a Yemeni health official say at least 26 people have died in an airstrike in northwestern Yemen.

The airstrike Wednesday hit a hotel and neighboring market in Saada province, which is located near the border with Saudi Arabia.

This is just the latest in a long string of indiscriminate attacks in civilian areas by the coalition. Saada province has suffered some of the worst bombing over the last two and a half years, especially after the coalition illegally [2] designated [3] the entire area [4] a military target. Other civilian targets that have been hit over the years have included schools [5] filled with children, health clinics [6], and civilian homes, among others. When the U.S. fuels and arms the Saudis and their allies, this is what our government is enabling in Yemen. These are all violations of international law, and by helping to make them possible the U.S. knowingly makes itself complicit in the commission of war crimes. That must end if there is to be any hope of halting the war in the near future.

If H. Con. Res. 81 can be brought to a vote, members of Congress will have an opportunity to oppose the policy that has fueled this atrocious war for the past thirty months. There continues to be resistance to the resolution from the leadership of both parties [7], but I am hopeful that the effort to quash the resolution will fail. Contact your representatives and urge them to co-sponsor and support the resolution so that our government’s indefensible support for the war on Yemen is halted.

Those who pay attention to the Middle East already know that Muhammed bin Salman is a depraved monster, and not the “moderate, forward looking Saudi” that friendly Western reporters tend to portray. So one might wonder why he feels the need to keep proving that he’s a depraved monster, especially when it detracts from the “moderate, forward looking” image he seeks to cultivate with the friendly Western reporters.

Then again he can’t help himself, can he? It is in the nature of depraved monsters to behave like depraved monsters. And so innocent Yemeni civilians can expect to be indiscriminately shredded and butchered by Muhammed bin Salman for the foreseeable future – or at least until some patriotic Saudi does to bin Salman what bin Salman recently did to his cousin.

Here’s hoping that happens sooner rather than later. It seems that the only way to get the US to stop helping Saudi Arabia wreck and starve Yemen is to get someone else to stop Saudi Arabia from doing it so that we won’t have to help it do it any more.

What a bloody, disgusting mess.

I believe Yemen is a monstrous war crime and our “leaders’ are complicit.

Is There No Law When War Criminals Rule?

Is there no law when war criminals rule?
Countries are destroyed by warmongering ghouls
There is no justice, just chaos and death
And millions of people who have nothing left

The evil depredations of those in power
Create hell on earth, as countries they devour
Bloodstained profits accrue to this warring filth
Ethics and morals have long been killed

Slaughtered children die, and many starve
Yemen is an example of what evil has carved
Weapons of death and destruction too
Are supplied by this heinous war criminal crew

These villains of violence in luxury reside
Their helpless victims have nowhere to hide
Misery and mayhem are their hellish lot
As the war criminals destroy everything they sought

Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen—these are hell holes of destruction
Victims of the war criminals and their war addictions
Are Iran, North Korea, China and Russia their next bloody fights?
Will more wars bring a nuclear finale with the end in sight?

Is it too late to stop these maniacs that are bereft of sanity?
Will they bring the apocalypse to all of humanity?
Who can stop these evil and loathsome ghouls?
Is there no law when war criminals rule?…
