Once more into the hip-hop irony breach, dear Republicans, or close the wall up with our comedic dead:

“Control your party man! Spending is out of hand! … ” Ho ho ho…

This morning, that clip was played at the Republican Party’s weekly conference by Rep. Dave Reichert, who reportedly wanted to show that anti-bailout rhetoric could prove hip to the yoof. Picture the cringe-inducing scene. CNN notes, sardonically, that Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence “admitted that very few members were familiar with the original Lady Gaga song.”

The video is meant to be parody, of course. And, like the Young Con rap of a few weeks back, it is funny — though not, perhaps, for the reasons intended.

All these eager young Republicans having a stab at post-modern irony, yet finding themselves immersed in a realm of irony that they seem unable to comprehend, let alone master. Still, bless their collegiate socks for trying.
