Vote, Or Else!

Norm Ornstein thinks Americans should be forced to vote.  Uh, no. For one thing, one should have the right to withhold one’s vote. For another, I don’t want people who can’t be bothered to vote under normal circumstances turning up to cancel out the votes of people who do care enough to do so. If everyone, including idiots and jackasses, must vote, then there will be a powerful incentive for idiots and jackasses to stunt-vote clowns into office.

Granted, it might not make things noticeably worse than they are now. Still.
