What would you say if I told you that a judge refused to perform legal wedding ceremonies because of her personal opinions about gay marriage? Would you say there was something wrong with her conduct? Would you call her a bigot who has no business on the bench? Would you call her a principled defender of conscience rights?

Take a look at the case. Granted, the law in her state does not mandate that Judge Parker marry anybody; it’s up to the judge’s personal discretion. Still, what’s the moral difference between Judge Parker and Rose Marie Belforti? Discuss.
