That’s the hand of my daughter Nora, celebrating her 7th birthday today with a pizza. We’d had cake at lunchtime, then went to see Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 (I slept through the whole thing, right there in the theater; thanks, mono!), and then went to Best Buy to buy Nora the Kindle Paperwhite she wanted. She’s been doing this unctuous Eddie Haskell thing for a week now, telling us all the reasons why a Kindle would be a good birthday present, e.g., “And I wouldn’t have to worry about paper cuts any more, and, um, I could get Bibles on it!” Enough already, kid, you’re getting the dang Kindle. She’s in bed now, reading the first Harry Potter on it, happy as a clam. A bibliophilic clam. We had pizza at a joint that has first-rate pies, but an ultra-stupid name: Schlittz & Giggles. Man, that pizza was delicious.
