Posting on Thursday and Friday was lighter than usual because I was preparing for and traveling to a very enjoyable and edifying conference in Louisville this weekend. The Climacus Conference is an annual event at St. Michael Orthodox Church, which brings together students and scholars of various subjects to speak on a select theme, and this year the theme of the conference was Byzantine history, theology, and culture. I was pleased to be invited to speak on the heresiology of St. Sophronios’ Synodical Letter, which I had worked on a little as a follow-up to my dissertation project on the sixth ecumenical council. Jerry Salyer and his wife Maria were good enough to host me while I was in town, and I am very grateful to them for their hospitality. I want to thank David Wright for organizing the conference, and I would like to thank the community at St. Michael and the other conference speakers and attendees for making the conference a success.
