Sriram Krishnan, a White House senior advisor on AI, will be exiting his position at the end of the month, he shared on X on Saturday. Krishnan was instrumental in crafting a December 2025 executive order that limited state regulation of AI.

Krishnan previously worked for Facebook, Twitter (now known as X), and the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. After Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022, Krishnan advised him on revamping the company.

President Donald Trump’s announcement in 2024 of Krishnan’s White House appointment met with controversy over his support for skilled immigration. Krishnan was born in India.

Since taking his position he has taken a prominent role in the administration’s AI policy and joined U.S. delegations to international summits in France and India. 

His exit comes as the Trump administration seeks early access to cutting-edge AI models and is reportedly weighing equity stakes in AI companies like OpenAI.
