Report: Heather Nauert Will Be Nominated as U.N. Ambassador

Trump will reportedly select [1] the State Department’s spokeswoman to be Nikki Haley’s replacement at the U.N.:

President Trump is expected to nominate Heather Nauert as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, a senior administration official said.

Ms. Nauert, a former Fox News correspondent, joined the Trump administration last year and is currently the chief communications official at the State Department.

The Nauert choice makes a certain amount of sense if you think of the job of the ambassador to the U.N. as one of simply delivering administration talking points, and so in that respect she will probably be a suitable replacement for Haley. If Trump were looking for someone with any significant diplomatic or political experience, he should have chosen one of several other candidates. It’s possible that all of the better-qualified people didn’t want to take the job of being Trump’s face at the U.N. If I had to guess the real reason for the selection, I would say that Trump chose Nauert because he probably likes how she comes across on television, and her background at Fox News likely would make her seem even more appealing to him. The president is more concerned with having effective surrogates on cable news programs than he is interested in having officials that know what they’re doing. This is just the latest sign that Trump doesn’t value diplomats or diplomacy.

Haley was not very successful during her time at the U.N. Nauert is likely to have even less success as she will be tasked with defending and advancing increasingly unpopular administration policies.

So Trump is going to replace Nutjob Nikki Haley with cretinous State Department hack Heather Nauert who has been playing duplicitous rope-a-dope on the U.S. supported Saudi pulverization of Yemen since she parachuted into that cushy sinecure. Her State Dept press conferences were atrocious.

Yet another snarky political apparatchik to threaten the rest of the planet out the wazoo and call that “diplomacy”. And as usual, when her term is over, that political hack will migrate back down to the Swamp where she’ll clean-up for just showing up. No-talent Nauert would be an HR drone if she had a real job.

And OBTW, Trump and Pompeo are just fine with that.

Trump’s incoherent Washington is the worst sausage grinder ever given its enormous scale and scope.

By now it should be obvious that Trump doesn’t care who is best for America; he cares about who will make him look good, and/or who sucks up to him the most. On that basis, I’m sure, he would like Nauert.

The only positive to the Trump Administration is that it is as incompetent as it is cretinous.

An Administration as effective as it is evil would be a sight to behold.

Ms. Nauert, a former Fox News correspondent….

Is there any other credential or background that matters to the Trump crowd?

What contempt Trump and Pompeo have for the United Nations!

If you’re going to send idiots like Haley and Nauert there, why bother? Why not just tell the UN to clear out of New York City and save ourselves the money, trouble, and embarrassment?

Another pretty Fox News babe. No diplomatic experience needed. Indeed, diplomatic experience may be a disqualification.

Man, you just nailed it right there.

Go, Big Don, Go! Anything that reduces the standing of the US in the world, its influence, its ability to marshal forces to commit hostile acts against other countries, from sanctions to coups, “color” revolutions to civil wars, the better. No doubt, the short term will be awful, but then it was under Obama, Clinton and Kerry, too. But if President Trump can get other countries to act independently of the US, if he can reduce the reputation of our foreign policy elites – it’s a pity he hasn’t got one of them fronting for him and failing miserably to turn the sow’s ear into a silk purse – the better for the rest of the world and us Americans both. All Hail Ambassador Nauert! Long may she embarrass us and appall the world!

The UN laughed at Trump during his speech, it serves them right to get a bubble-headed bobble-head to represent us there.

Can somebody please explain to Trump that making America great is hard when we are making ourselves irrelevant.

This job is so unimportant we will give it to a woman, and an unqualified one at that.

Nauert seems to have less of an agenda of her own. Nauert probably has a better way with wording. At least she shows awareness of what to avoid while Haley blatantly ignored any common sense. So Nauert will be better able to present what goes for US policy now. With the pretty unpalatable US policies it will not make that much difference. However guess Nauert will not reach that level of abrasiveness Haley was known for.

Re: JR, “However guess Nauert will not reach that level of abrasiveness Haley was known for.”

I’d like to reiterate, Nauert as a State Department spokesperson outright lied about the atrocities in Yemen and also about the nature of the “moderate” jihadist lunatics the U.S. has supported in Syria.

She was caustic and dismissive about everything. She dismissed rational, politely framed questions from RT. Simply because they were from RT. And also from an AP reporter Mike Lee who appeared to be one of the few honest journalists in those sessions.

Nauert is a Nutjob Nikki Haley clone. I.e., a Beltway parasite and a political mess with not an ounce of integrity or diplomatic skill.

P.S. She’ll fit right in with the collection of egregious war-monger hacks that Trump has surrounded himself with.

This is truly hilarious. Mike Judge’s “Idiocracy” has come sputtering to life.

Good choice.

The author of the ‘Art of the deal’ doesn’t believe in diplomacy himself. I guess its good news that he has not replaced Nikkey Haley by a robot or worse – a twitter account.

Okay. Give the plum post to a zero-experience airhead. That’ll definitely raise morale among the Foggy Bottom professionals, right? Is this more Pompeo “swagger”? As in “we’re so great we can afford to have a complete moron in this job!”

I can remember when positions like Ambassador were respected and considered career-enhancing; George H. W. Bush comes to mind. But now? In this administration they’re about as respected as an appearance as a contestant on a reality TV show.
