Leonard Nimoy has died of heart failure. Open thread here to discuss what his career, and his career-defining character, meant to you.

I don’t have much to say, because I was never a huge Star Trek fan, though I would have been if, in the mid-Seventies, we had been able to receive a clear, steady signal from the UHF station in Baton Rouge that aired Star Trek in syndication. I saw enough of it in third grade, though, to know that there were two kinds of men in this world: Kirk men and Spock men.

I was a Spock man, for better and for worse, and always will be. Contemplative, not active. Analytical to a fault. Pointy ears (allegory!). Alien.
