Note to seven-year-old girls: it is not a good idea to go digging in Mama’s jewelry box. You might find your lost teeth in there, and suddenly, the awful truth about the Tooth Fairy will be revealed, and then you’ll throw yourself into Mama’s arms boo-hooing and wailing, “It’s no more fun now!”

I’m watching this happen right now, and it’s … well, it’s so sad, but so sweet. Her little heart is broken.
