Last Tuesday at 2 pm I received a robocall the purported to be from the head of the Virginia Republican Delegation in Tampa. There was excited chatter in the background and I was told that the Virginia delegation was right there in the thick of all the fun and excitement. The only problem was that I found out about two hours later that the Virginia delegation was at that time actually being driven in the opposite direction apparently to avoid having them on the convention floor when the procedural votes were scheduled to come up. Seems that too many people from Virginia were Ron Paul supporters and were considered unreliable.

Wow! We all know that Republicans are working assiduously to prevent Democratic supporters from voting on Nov. 6. I didn’t realize they used the same policy of voter suppression at their own convention.

Were they being driven to Charlotte, N.C. by any chance? I think they will be equally disappointed there. I think all the Democratic anti-war activists have now retired and are collecting Social Security.

Anti-war activists collecting Social Security? Ryan has a plan to fix that.

Careful. I think you succeeded in giving those retired, Social Security collecting anti-war activists either a heart attack or a stroke by mentioning Paul Ryan. Now, come to think about it, there’s a plan to solve our Medicare and Social Security problems. It’s either that or having government promote cigarette smoking among the elderly.

My goodness.

We in the North Carolina delegation, who had a near mutiny the day before over the committee approved rules changes, had only one RNC bus arrive on time to take our delegates to the afternoon opening session of the convention, the session in which the rules and credentials of contested delegations was approved without a tally. Had the alternates and guests not climbed on one of our own chartered buses and had ourselves deposited just outside the security perimeter, we too would have missed the proceedings. That night we didn’t get home from a post convention reception until past 2:30 in the morning. Another bus failed to show up on time.
At least it puts paid to the Ron Paul warning that we are witnessing the approach of American fascism. Mussolini always had his trains run on time!

Tally another VA Ron Paul supporter. Voted GOP most of my life but this time out I’m voting for Virgil Goode for President and against Eric Cantor. The GOP isn’t a conservative political party anymore, it’s a hog trough masquerading as a strip mall.
