That’s the “One Of A Kind Shirt” available through Sky Mall. There is no way to wear it in public without telegraphing to everyone around you that you are a complete tool.

It’s one of a kind all right. Because if they made two, expecting to sell both of them, they are insane.
-
Sez something bad about me . . . I kinda like it!
-
“There is no way to wear it in public without telegraphing to everyone around you that you are a complete tool.”
And therefor only a complete tool would wear it.
-
I saw this on a flight a couple of weeks ago and I’m ashamed to admit that, while I didn’t buy it, I kind of did think it had a certain awesomeness to it.
-
Skymall makes today’s flying bearable, just. Where else can you order huge shower heads and hollow rocks for your garden, all in one place?
-
Post the URL please. I can’t believe that, it looks like me, if I wore clothing that made me look like I should be in the movie Sling Blade.
Yikes. -
That thing looks like a Wall Street broker, a Chippendales dancer and a cattle rancher got caught in horrible malfunction in the USS Enterprise transporter room.
Even the poor fellow modeling it seems to carry a look of deep melancholy about how it all came to this.
-
Rod, I hope Julie doesn’t have that under the tree for you!
-
It says in the product description that every shirt they make is different, and that the one you receive will not look like the one in the picture. I can’t figure out whether that should be comforting or frightening.
-
Next they’ll try to market “unique” cars, where every panel if the body is a different style and color.
-
My first thought was, “Wow! Mark Driscoll’s begun a modelling career.”
-
Bryan, you win the thread, I don’t think anyone can top that assessment.

Political humor in a shirt sold on an airplane.
Something for everyone, and every shirt different. Is it the Congress shirt? Is it the Romney shirt?
Looks like a sign of our times.
-
Hello. I am the Doctor.
-
Even the model looks unhappy.
-
Mr. White, I drove a car like that in high school.
I had no idea that being poor and resourceful was also fashionable. Maybe I should have sold it in SkyMall rather than to a scrapyard.

Rod: “…telegraphing to everyone around you that you are a complete tool.”
Hey, isn’t a “complete tool” what everybody wants to be nowadays?
-
If these are just random bits of fabric sewn together, how many would you have to order before you got one where they randomly chose each piece in the same fabric? If there are 10 panels and 10 fabrics, I think that means there are 10 to the 10th power combinations? So 10 billion shirts?
The cuff and the sleeve on his right arm are the same. Almost there!
-
PS: They are going to have to change the name of the shirt once they sell the 10 billion and first unit.
-
I predict a civil war between the tools who wear the striped sleeve on the left versus those who wear them on the right.

Buddhist monks would traditionally take scraps of old clothing that were donated to them by the laity or that they’d scrounged from trash heaps or burial grounds (since bodies were cremated, they could just take the clothes off beforehand–no exhumation!), cut them into pieces (if they weren’t already), and then sew them together to make their robes. The traditional coloring of saffron was cheap (it was probably turmeric, not real saffron) and had mild sterilizing properties (necessary for clothing copped from corpses!).
Except for the saffron color, maybe that’s what’s going on with this shirt….

“, cut them into pieces (if they weren’t already), and then sew them together to make their robes”
Just like Dolly’s mom.

“CW@UW:
My first thought was, “Wow! Mark Driscoll’s begun a modelling career.””
I had the same thought! I was expecting, below that picture, to find a story about Mars Hill, evangelicalism, megachurches, something like that. It took me a minute or two to fully catch up.

A Firefly, Star Trek, and Doctor Who reference all in one post? I have never been prouder to be a part of this blog’s community.

For the man who can’t decide which shirt to wear…
-
His face says it all.
“Oh man this is a mistake. I’m going to become the Ned Beatty of the modeling world!”
-
Instead of wearing a different shirt to work every day of the week, he just wears this one five days in a row!
p.s. does the shirt come with one of those deep orange artificial tanning creams as a bonus – to match the right-side panel?
Actually if the left sleeve looked like the right side (white), the shirt would look kind of nice.

M_young,
Well, we finally have something in common! I too have browsed Skymall on a long flight when I did not bring a long enough book. It’s a guilty pleasure to imagine the sort of people who would actually buy the tacky, over-the-top craptastica it hawks. Thank the Lord I do not know any those folks. -
@JohnF
Well, maybe next we can bond over the inability of America’s ‘road warrior’ class to close a deal without the aid of copious amounts of red meat and red wine — see the cover to cover ads for ‘Americas Finest Stakehouses’ ™, ‘Ruth’s Chris’, and dozens of Brazilian Churrascaria joints in every in-flight magazine known to man.

is the model Mark Driscoll?

I love how the model refuses to meet my eyes.
Reminds of Jayne’s hat from Firefly–”Man wears a hat like that in public, you know he’s not afraid of anything.”
