Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York

Our New England bureau chief James C. has gone down to Brooklyn in search of good eats:

Fish and chips with a pint of English cider. The Chip Shop’s single concession to SWPL Park Slope mores is the spring mix salad. Otherwise, the British menu is pure non-PC comfort. They’ll deep-fry anything, as long as it isn’t banned by Nanny Bloomberg (the “twice-fried cherry pie” has only recently returned after a 3-year injunction by the NYC health department!).

My dessert: deep-fried Christmas pudding with cream.
As a sign on the wall says, “In cod we trust. Fry the bugger!”

More James C. photos from The Chip Shop (including a menu) below the jump. You’re welcome.
