Very homey.

What restaurant is this? I was in the lakes region just two days ago.

It’s a credit to the readers of this blog that no one’s posted, “No, that’s pancakes, New Hampshire…”
Or is to their detriment? I’m not sure…

Restaurants really shouldn’t discriminate against hippies-they have really healthy appetites.

“they have really healthy appetites”
But the patchouli aroma puts everyone else off their food.

Are there hippies anymore? My coevals. I’ll wait at the side door.
I am suspicious of restaurants that have saltcellars on the table. My experience is that restaurant food is so over-salted that only those accustomed to eating clay would resort to a salt shaker.
I would request a poivrier but never a salière. A modicum of additional pepper is à goût but more salt is an insult to the chef.

It’s Sunday brunch at the venerable Corner House Inn in Center Sandwich.
The cavernous old inn was fantastic! One of those places where you don’t have to sacrifice food quality to eat in an evocative atmosphere. Really good coffee too.
Not pictured was my brother’s dish: venison eggs benedict with roasted potatoes and toast for $8.95. It was sweet, and not only because the waitress started us off with a basket of freshly baked pastries and breads.
Sandwich is just north of Squam Lake and Lake Winnepesaukee. Better get to the Lakes region of NH before it becomes the summer White House. I’d like to stop at the inn again in October.

My favorite part is the sign.

That’s a reason to hope Romney loses. The lakes region is a great place for a family vacation and much more modestly priced than Cape Cod or Cape Ann.
The 2004 Democratic convention convinced me I should promise to vote for the candidate who vows never to go near any place I like.

Oh, I want to eat there! In October. (I adore Fall in New England.)
