Washington, DC  – The American Conservative announced today that it has added Micah Mattix’s popular books and arts newsletter to its website. Mattix is expanding “Prufrock” with daily blog commentary, joining American Conservative bloggers Daniel Larison, Noah Millman, and Rod Dreher.

Says Mattix: “After only four months of operation, Prufrock has reached a serious audience, from U.S. senators and New York editors to local lawyers and home-school moms. Who says conservatives don’t care about arts and literature?

The American Conservative is a great host for Prufrock. It has a smart readership and a love of tradition and community that has long nourished the best in the arts. No slave to the fickle demands of populism, it also offers a place to ask questions and present ideas that really matter.”

Patrick Deneen, Associate Professor of Constitutional Studies at Notre Dame, is now a weekly columnist. The magazine has also added new talent to its editorial staff, as two recent interns have been promoted to full-time editors.

Gracy Olmstead has been named Associate Editor. Olmstead, who graduated from Patrick Henry College in May, was previously an editorial assistant at The American Conservative. She has written for The Washington Times, WORLD Magazine, and the Idaho Press Tribune.

Jonathan Coppage, who was also formerly editorial assistant for The American Conservative, was promoted to Associate Editor in July. Coppage is a graduate of North Carolina State University. Prior to joining The American Conservative, he was an intern at The New Atlantis: A Journal of Science and Technology.

The American Conservative’s digital team is growing as its website is on track to post another record-setting year in traffic. Monthly unique visitors this year are up 80 percent over 2012, when David Brooks referred to the site as “one of the more dynamic spots on the political Web.”

In August, Jon Basil Utley III was named Publisher. Utley was previously Associate Publisher of the magazine.
