My favorite Romney video–only a few seconds long — is here (and below). Unlike those David Corn has posted at Mother Jones, he’s not pandering to wealthy right-wing Zionists off the record. He’s publicly reveling in his own success — a perfect distillation of the Bain view of the world.
What surprises me most is not that a man like this could get the GOP nomination (considering the competition). It is that he was ever elected governor of Massachusetts.

CK says: I don’t like Romney, I won’t vote for Romney or Obama, but this is Romney just being humorous. Contrary to popular understanding, Mormons can be a humorous bunch, and what Romney is doing here is typical Mormon humor. Live amongst the Mormons in UT, AZ, NV, or ID, and you’ll see this type of humor on display.

Well, obviously, his standards of wealth shifted: he didn’t consider his father rich. Most Americans would.
The context is the annual St Patrick’s Day breakfast roast in South Boston, when politicians skewer each other, and also themselves. Don’t know what year this was (2003, 2004, 2005 or 2006), but by the middle of his term, Mitt was largely delegated to others and focusing on 2008, and spent a considerable amount of time ignoring Massachusetts.

Huntsman: another rich guy, but worse (image-wise), since it is inherited wealth; same Zionist foreign policy (he even talked about ground troops(!) in Iran during his campaign, which none of the others were crazy/stupid enough to do); openly pro-amnesty, open borders, free trade sellout; same Mormon problem with GOP partisans (but worse, since Huntsman has hinted in interviews that he is not devoutly religious); and broadly similar fiscal stance (big tax cut promises, vague/unrealistic on spending reductions).

Somehow I don’t believe most average Mormons would think much of the uber-entitled, vulture capitalist hedonists that Romney pals with, such as Leder.
These guys use the money they steal from pension funds to stage $500,000 bacchanalias that exceed the worst indulgent and depraved immoralities of the ancient world.

Though brief, yours is probably the most cogent commentary I have heard or read all of this campaign season. Regardless what average Mormons may think _ I am sincerely hoping that other Americans will pay heed to whatever judgement and character implications such associations might reveal.
That Mitt is “singing for his supper” from a donor class comprised of folks like Marc Leder and Sheldon Adleson is reliably telling as to what sort of things might be expected of Romney _ were he to suceed.
my only issue with this clip is his use of the words “becoming rich”. he was “rich” when he was “a boy”. I fail to understand the message. should have used “richer” and “happier”, would have made sense to me.
