There is a lot of statistical and anecdotal evidece to suggest that quite a few white Democratic women will not vote for Obama in November. Even if one assumes that most of these angry women will eventually come back “home”, McCain could probably exploit this Democratic-white-woman card which could make a difference in a close election race.

There has been some talk about Condoleeza Rice on the Republican ticket. As I suggested with regard to the Webbama Ticket, it sounds good in theory (gender, race, age) but I don’t think it would work for many reasons, and not only because she will go down in history as “one of the worst secretaries of state ever.”

Then there is Elizabeth Dole and Kay Bailey Hutchison. But neither is a spring chicken, which leads us to the idea of a McCain-Clinton ticket. Perfect balance in terms of gender, age, and party affiliaiton. And let’s face it. There is really no major differences between the two candidates’s positions on most issues. And there is always a place for compromise. Iraq? How about we’ll stay there for another 50 instead of 100 years? No big deal.

And Hillary could remind some newspaper editorial board that “we all remember that William Henry Harrison served as president from March 4, 1841 until his death from pneumonia 31 days later on April 4.” And then we could have the guy on the right as VP, just another chapter in the Clinton-Bush Era.
