That’s what the One Who Is Always Wrong recommends. Dan Quayle’s Brain has already picked-up the brain of that other genius who advised McCain to take off the gloves as Kristol had done in another column. In that column he actually recommended that

Pailn should spend her time making the case for McCain and, more important, the case against Obama. As one shrewd McCain supporter told me, “Every minute she spends not telling the American people something that makes them less well disposed to Obama is a minute wasted.”

McCain has followed his advice. But as usual, Kristol got it wrong. So today he is calling McCain to fire the campaign. Is that a a double entendre?

The 2008 campaign is now about something very big — both our future prosperity and our national security. Yet the McCain campaign has become smaller.

What McCain needs to do is junk the whole thing and start over. [Three weeks before the election?] Shut down the rapid responses, end the frantic e-mails, bench the spinning surrogates, stop putting up new TV and Internet ads every minute. In fact, pull all the ads — they’re doing no good anyway. Use that money for televised town halls and half-hour addresses in prime time. [Yep. McCain was great in the last Town-Hall debate]

And let McCain go back to what he’s been good at in the past — running as a cheerful, open and accessible candidate. Palin should follow [swim]suit. The two of them are attractive and competent politicians. They’re happy warriors and good campaigners. Set them free.

The one who needs to be fired is Bill Kristol.
