Dude, you are being awfully dense. The point I’m making is the same one the Catholic blogger Mark Shea always makes: people who claim a married priesthood would solve the abuse problem in the Catholic Church should ask themselves why things like this happen in non-religious institutions (abuse, and then cover-up).

Yep, the same elements: elites who believe The Mission and The Firm are so important that things like truth, and the lives of children, are to be sacrificed. This is a human trait.
I am sure this is not only a problem confined to the elites. That is, I’m sure that many of the ordinary people — people in the pews, people in the bleachers, etc. — would agree with them.

Seriously, we are peering into a rather cult-like all-male para-religious domain, not unlike the Catholic or Orthodox clergy. I don’t think the celibacy is as much of a problem as a skewed worldview of a sub-culture that pretty much sees the world as its own personal oyster.
Plus, addicts can groom supporters and codependents especially where they find a culture full of narcissism, secrecy, and intrigue.
