So, a Vanderbilt student stands up during Q&A at a Billy Joel lecture and performance, and tells the singer that his favorite Billy Joel song is “New York State Of Mind” — which is, indeed, the best Joel song — and asks if he, the student, could accompany Billy Joel on the piano in a performance of the song.
“Okay,” says Joel.
