The trailer for the upcoming film “Beautiful Creatures” is out now. Much of the movie was filmed around St. Francisville this spring — and really looks like it, too. You can probably guess from the images, but it’s hard for me to adequately express how lush and humid it is in these parts. My neighbor told me today that he and his wife have a dehumidifier, and some days it draws two gallons of moisture out of the air inside their house.

Are those accents authentic to the area? Having never been to St. Francisville, I don’t know whether they have a Cajun/South Louisiana accent, or a North Louisiana/ East Texas type accent.
No, not really. It’s just generic Southern, what you hear in that clip. The accent around here is a bit peculiar. It’s definitely not Cajun in the least … but it’s not really a North Louisiana accent either. It’s hard for me to explain why it’s the way it is, and how it’s different from North Louisiana, but it is. I really love it.

That looks kinda creepy. Are those accents authentic to the area? Having never been to St. Francisville, I don’t know whether they have a Cajun/South Louisiana accent, or a North Louisiana/ East Texas type accent. Just curious. Regardless, most movies and TV shows don’t get the accents right anyway. The only show that I think nails a Texas accent is “King of the Hill”.
