Meanwhile, in Oregon:

For the next five years, an Oregon high school diploma will be no guarantee that the student who earned it can read, write or do math at a high school level.

Gov. Kate Brown had demurred earlier this summer regarding whether she supported the plan passed by the Legislature to drop the requirement that students demonstrate they have achieved those essential skills. But on July 14, the governor signed Senate Bill 744 into law.

Through a spokesperson, the governor declined again Friday to comment on the law and why she supported suspending the proficiency requirements.

Brown’s decision was not public until recently, because her office did not hold a signing ceremony or issue a press release and the fact that the governor signed the bill was not entered into the legislative database until July 29, a departure from the normal practice of updating the public database the same day a bill is signed.

The Oregonian/OregonLive asked the governor’s office when Brown’s staff notified the Legislature that she had signed the bill. Charles Boyle, the governor’s deputy communications director, said the governor’s staff notified legislative staff the same day the governor signed the bill.

Boyle said in an emailed statement that suspending the reading, writing and math proficiency requirements while the state develops new graduation standards will benefit “Oregon’s Black, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”

You got that? The Democratic governor of Oregon, and the Democrat-controlled Oregon legislature, have now said that in order to achieve equity, you don’t have to prove that you can read, write, or do math to graduate from Oregon public schools. Because expecting high school graduates to be literate is racist. 

We are led by corrupt elites, and deserve to have the Chinese kick our ass. Seriously, can you believe this? Can you believe that America is auto-destructing like this? How crack-brained do you have to be to make a law saying that an American can graduate from high school as an illiterate, and that’s fine, because we’re fighting racism?

Idiocracy. We are an idiocracy. The thing is, though, if all those Oregon BIPOX youth graduate as illiterates, how will they ever be able to keep up with the queering of superheroes? From the Daily Mail:

Im 52 years old.And over the past five decades ive watched dozens of “Educational reforms” debated and implemented[and many times later discarded] . And in all cases the debate was about whether the reforms/changes would help improve the education of American students.Or help improve the education of Black American students in particular

But over the past year or so, ive seen many “Reforms” proposed and implemented that dont even pretend to be about improving the education of our children. So there isnt even a debate about the value of the proposed reforms nowdays.

Its not even about lowering the bar in standards. Its about getting rid of the bar entirely

As ive mentioned in other comments here, ive personally known many Baltimore residents that have high school diplomas.And can literally not read simple street signs. One co-worker told me that his Wife framed and put his high school diploma on the living room wall , because she was proud that he got it. But he told me that he is ashamed of it every time that he looks at it.Because he literally can not read his own diploma. It was heart breaking hearing him say this.

And some people think that the educational standards in American schools are too high ? How much lower can they be?

I owned and ran a small construction company for 15 years. And a major problem for me was employees who had reading problems and could not do simple measurements with an ordinary tape measure.

So i had to teach them how to do these simple measurements .And most of them did learn how to measure things. Im a high school drop out.If i can teach someone how to use a measuring tape, how come their college educated teachers were not able to? And why did they get a high school diploma if they could not figure out many inches are in eight feet and two inches.? Thats extremely simple math

Many people fear that many of our children may only be able to work as ditch diggers or at McDonalds.But the sad fact is that many public school systems are graduating kids who do not even have the mental and/or social skills that are needed to hold a job at McDonalds or as a construction laborer

This is Government sponsored child abuse. It literally is.And those that believe that Black or Latino children will never be capable of meeting basic educational standards , are racists of the worst kind. If these educators really believe that they can not get Black and Latino students to meet even basic educational standards, they should resign and let someone who can do so , take over
