Romney doesn’t handle heckling very well (via Elspeth Reeve). This was his response to some protesters shouting, “We are the people!”:
No, actually, these are the people. These are the people; you’re the interrupters. We believe in the Constitution. We believe in the right to speech. And you believe in interrupting.
In other words, people protesting at a political rally aren’t exercising their right of free speech. They are practicing the dark and unconstitutional art of interruption. I think we have worked out Romney’s definition of “people”: 1) corporations and 2) audience members who don’t criticize him.
