“When Your Heart Stops Beating, You’ll Keep Tweeting”

Great news for all you losers:

Launching in March is a new Twitter app called LivesOn [1]. The service uses Twitter bots powered by algorithms that analyse your online behaviour and learn how you speak, so it can keep on scouring the internet, favouriting tweets and posting the sort of links you like, creating a personal digital afterlife. As its tagline explains: “When your heart stops beating, you’ll keep tweeting.”

“It divides people on a gut level, before you even get to the philosophical and ethical arguments,” says Dave Bedwood, creative partner of Lean Mean Fighting Machine, the London-based ad agency that is developing it.

“It offends some, and delights others. Imagine if people started to see it as a legitimate but small way to live on. Cryogenics costs a fortune; this is free and I’d bet it will work better than a frozen head.”

Hard to argue with that last sentence, I think you’ll agree.

Oh, and the reason I call y’all losers: years ago I wrote a program to do this for tweeting and blogging. In fact, I died in 2010! HA!!

Great Caesar’s ghost! Twitter is the most annoying invention since the plastic clips that keep bread wrappers shut. Our society has become a place where everyone seems to think that their banal tidbits and observations on life are worthy of filing in a digital Library of Alexandria next to Plutarch. The fact is that most people are idiots and since their lives were highly uninteresting, I think the continuation of it into the afterlife is an abomination.

Sometimes death is the only relief to annoyance.

Why wait until you’re dead? Adopt this now, and you can let it do your tweeting for you! While you retire from Twitter.

I’ve never tweeted myself, so I have no grounds on which to take this seriously…

Shh. Don’t give people any ideas. Once this gets into the hands of internet trolls, it’ll mean total internet destruction.

Why should you need a beating heart to tweet? You certainly don’t need a functioning brain.
