View From Your Table
James C. comes through from England!:
Today was our Thanksgiving, as Thursday was a work day. Rather than cook, we decided to go out to a carvery this year. These types of pubs/restaurants are all over the place. You go up to a buffet and give your plate to a bloke who carves your choice of meats (turkey, roast beef, lamb, pork, gammon) and adds a sausage and a big Yorkshire pudding (that’s what you see rising out of our plates like giant mushrooms). Then you put on your choice of sides: mashed potatoes, crispy roasted potatoes, stuffing, turnips, carrots, brussels sprouts, peas, etc. And then shower everything in beef, turkey or onion gravy.
Honestly I’m surprised the Blair government never closed these places down for inciting “hate speech” against vegetarianism.
I suppose I can be thankful for excess once in a while. I’m also very thankful that the Advent fast is here!
Yes, and for my sins, I ate lentil soup for lunch.
