Two full-time jobs (one with homework) bookended by hour-long commutes while raising a toddler and with a baby on the way mean that the view from our table isn’t always pretty on week nights.  But if the food is good, I can tolerate the mess until the weekend comes.  Dinner is a tomato, bacon and onion pie, recipe from two blogs ago.  We look forward to using our garden tomatoes on this every summer.  I know this isn’t your typical view from a table, which is generally meant to combine good food with beauty, but perhaps it would be small comfort to others to know that they are not alone in the disaster of a setting.  Or maybe I’m deceiving myself and everyone else manages to do a little better than this.  But if I only have time to make good food or have a neat house, I can tell you which one I will pick.

Amen, sister! This is a woman with her priorities straight. Only thing I wish I saw on this table was some of y’all’s terrific local beer, Sly Fox. I knew that Eastern Pennsylvania had a stellar craft brew culture when I lived there, but I regret how much I took it for granted.
