Think Of TAC At Year’s End

This weekend we say goodbye to 2017. If you’re like me, you’re not at all sad to see the back of this crummy year. For me, one of the best parts of this year, as in every year, is having the opportunity to write for all of you every day, and to read your reactions, thoughts, and ideas. We have a great little community here, and I’m grateful for you all.

If you like reading this blog, and the work of my TAC colleagues, won’t you consider making a year-end donation [1]? It’s tax-deductible, and you can even set up an automatic monthly donation schedule with as little as five dollars monthly.

Believe me, it goes a long, long way. TAC is a lean operation. We don’t have fancy offices, nor do we have fundraising cruises (though if you donate a sufficient amount, maybe we can arrange for me to fly to New York and ride the Staten Island ferry with you). Putting out a magazine and a website costs money, and as a not-for-profit operation, we depend entirely on the generosity of donors.

I want to thank all of you who donated this year in earlier fundraising pitches, and I thank you again for considering us once again. It is no mere politeness to say that we could not do what we do without you. We may be in turbulent times, but at least we’re never at a loss for something to write about, and to read, am I right?

If you wish to donate, here’s the link. [1] And guess what: every gift between now and the end of the year will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous donor.

A ride on the Staten Island Ferry? Shouldn’t it be a cruise though the bayou on a swamp boat?

Well, it is $5.00 a month. Not much, but what I can afford.

As I raise a glass of liquid modernity to mark the end of the old year and the onrush of the new, I would like to thank Mr. Dreher for the work he does on his amazing blog.

I’m one of the TAC commenters who has (I suppose) been more naughty than nice this year, but I write mostly for my own amusement, and to improve my thinking and writing skills. If someone else finds my comments interesting or amusing or even irritating, then that is (as they say in S. Louisiana) lagniappe. I visit Mr. Dreher’s blog in part because of the diversity of viewpoints expressed, but also because he runs a classier conservative intellectual kiosk than does Mr. Unz.

Trying to figure out how to contribute to TAC without breaking my pen name… maybe bitcoin?

OK, you convinced me.

I contributed just now, Rod, I hope it helps. Say, may I make a request through you to whomever is in charge of this operation? It’s this: could you dispense with strict alphabetical order with the list of countries? The US should be first, IMO, followed by (in whatever order) English-speaking countries such as the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. That would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Jack B. Nimble, TAC asks for your email, so they probably already have that information. Can’t say if that will relieve you or stress you further.

I borrow a friend’s email address, with her permission, as well as using a pen name when I post. Maybe I can transfer funds through her PayPal account…

I just made what I hope is a generous donation. I visit this site almost every day both for your blog and other articles that catch my eye.

I appreciate that we have a good commenting community here.

Best to All for 2018!
