The Noose Tightens On Romney

Wisconsin has just gone into the Obama column. If Obama wins either Virginia or Florida — and we will know very soon — I don’t see how Romney pulls it out.

As of this moment, with 60.5 reporting, Florida reads 49.6 for Romney, 49.5 for Obama, and .5 for Johnson according to Google Election Results. (I realize, of course, this doesn’t add up yet.) The best possible way for this election to turn out, in my view, if for Obama to win Florida by a margin of victory less than the percentage Johnson receives. But do you think the Republicans would understand the message?

I think the Bishop in Green Bay just learned what happens when you make the non-Catholic vote nervous.

Squish!

I don’t think we’re going to get projected results from Florida or Virginia any time soon.

Reading this the next afternoon, Romney delivered a very gracious concession speech, and Obama was equally gracious in responding to it.

Now, perhaps we could dust off Rod Dreher’s old column on how America needs a functional government that can govern, and get on with the job. The voters have given nobody a mandate to upend things with their own dearest dreams and wish lists. There are, however, important decisions to be made.
