My priest writes on Facebook that he was out doing errands with his children yesterday, wearing his black cassock and pectoral cross, as is common for Orthodox priests, when he was approached by a friendly lady who asked him if he was a minister.

“Yes, I am an Orthodox priest,” he said.

She responded, ” I love the way y’all look. You know you are about the Lord’s work.”

He also went by a dry cleaner’s to drop off his vestments for cleaning. The black lady who runs the place, a non-denominational Christian, was overwhelmed by them, and, he says, very sweet.

“Honey, God is all over these,” she said. “I don’t think I should be touching them!”

She talked about them with the priest, and displayed the deep (and deeply admirable) awareness of the Bible that many Southern Protestants have. She said,”These remind me of Moses’ brother Aaron, and the clothing of the Hebrew priests.”

Awesome! I love the South.
