Muslim Immigrants Riot In Stockholm

Did you know this was happening? [1]I did not know this was happening:

Rioters have set fire to 30 cars and torched a school and a nursery in poor immigrant suburbs of Stockholm. Three nights of unrest in one of Europe’s richest capitals has marred Sweden’s reputation for social justice.

Swedish police said Wednesday they had arrested eight young men during a third night of urban unrest in low-income suburbs of Stockholm from Tuesday into Wednesday.

The rioting had erupted on Sunday after police shot dead a 69-year-old man on May 13.

Police said officers had acted in self-defense when the man wielded a machete in the northwestern suburb of Husby. The shooting was being investigated by a special police unit.

A group Megafonen which works with youth in deprived areas, accused police of being heavy-handed and targeting immigrants indiscriminately. Cuts in services and closures of youth centers have fuelled discontent, said its spokesman Rami al-Khamisi.

Immigrants? Like what, Italians? Poles? You don’t learn their countries of origin in that story, from Deutsche Welle, but you do learn it in this BBC report [2]:

More than 80% of Husby’s 12,000 or so inhabitants are from an immigrant background, and most are from Turkey, the Middle East and Somalia.

Ah. More from Deutsche Welle:

The anti-immigrant Sweden Democrats party, which has risen to third in surveys ahead of a general election due next year, said the Stockholm riots were the result of an “irresponsible” immigration policy.

“Never before has so much money been spent on immigrant-heavy suburbs as today,” party leader Jimmie Aakesson told the daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.

Anna-Margrethe Livh of the opposition Left Party wrote in the Svenska Dagbladet: “We have failed to give many of the people in the suburbs a hope for the future.”

From The Economist earlier this year [3], a report on how mass immigration is tearing Sweden apart:

Yet the relationship between the state and its clients is strained. “In Sweden having a job is everything,” says Tobias Billstrom, the minister for immigration and a former MP for Malmö; but in Rosengard only 38% of the residents have one. Angry youths have taken to rioting, torching bicycle sheds and recycling centres as well as cars.

Per Brinkemo is a former journalist whose life was changed when he wrote a book about a Somali boy who was brought up in war-torn Mogadishu. He now runs an organisation that specialises in helping Somali refugees from the basement of a Rosengard block of flats. The centre’s walls are decorated with pictures of high-ranking visitors and prizes awarded to Mr Brinkemo. But he is no fan of government policies, pointing out that politicians have little sense of how difficult it is to integrate Somalis into Swedish society. They hail from nomadic societies where trust is reserved for the clan, literacy is rare and timekeeping is rudimentary. Three-quarters of Somali children drop out of school. “For Somali immigrants [coming to Sweden] is like being transported to Mars,” he says.

Mass immigration is posing serious problems for the region. For the Nordic countries to be able to afford their welfare states they need to have 80% of their adults in the workforce, but labour-force participation among non-European immigrants is much lower than that. In Sweden only 51% of non-Europeans have a job, compared with over 84% of native Swedes. The Nordic countries need to persuade their citizens that they are getting a good return on their taxes, but mass immigration is creating a class of people who are permanently dependent on the state.

” . . . it is estimated that . . .”

Should speak volumes.

Elite Comm Inc,

Sorry if I misinterpreted you, I’m just sensitive to any suggestion that women should ‘change their behaviour’ to avoid rape. Avoiding rape is sort of the responsibility of the would-be rapist.

There are, as you suggest, a lot of Black men who *date* or hook up with white women (consensually). There are plenty of Middle Easterners and South Asians who do so as well. That doesn’t have anything to do with rape, of course. Most people of whatever ethnicity, who are attracted to women, seek to act on their attraction by consensually asking them out, not by resorting to rape.

Sweden, and the other Scandinavian countries, have traditionally been homogenous. Now there is an influx of people bearing little resemblance in terms of values or religion, not to mention other more superficial differences. Only a moron could NOT to see this clash coming . Makes you wonder who will be next…

Well, that is not what I said. If I recall, I said that rape occurs most often aong people who know each other. It is an observation of the statistical paramters of rape, not an excuse. And since I am discussing rape consent is out.

Since we are discussing rapists, it is doubtful they would avoid it – maybe, doubtful. And on responsibility, I disagree. I think the introduction of drugs and or alcohol seriously changes the the consent issue. And in that no such substances should be engaged on first dates or perhaps, not the second or third. That said, women should take steps as well as men to have their witsabout them at all times during dates.

This is a delicate issue. But what constitutes consent can be a tricky matter. And cultural practice matters. In the west we now have the standard – if a woman taunts you, teases you, via gesture, and or touch, engages in all manner of flirtation verbal and nonverbal but closes her legs at the last second — she means no and no matter what went on before — no is no. Suppose a male comes from a culture in which women never behave that way. And to do so is an invitation for sexual relations and any resistance is considered part of the foreplay —

Now should a man overcome the resistence in the west we say that is rape — and it is but it also a cultural clash. It does not mean I condone rape. But I would be lying if I was not concerned about the woman’s behavior. That is why proprity is matters. Why behavior matters. The dance of romance and sexuality does not operate in the vaccuum of the mind of the woman alone.

(Now l’est, those looking for some sinister in, jump — I have no deep dark confessions here. I have never raped a woman – not even close.)

But the expanding definition has made this markedly complex. Women have demanded a definition *western women) that does not require penetration. So survey data such as previously mentioned in the data is gathered by interview or questionaire depending on how rape is defined would yeild higher rape encounters. Mix that along with the intracultural clash now taking place and it makes sense that the score is markedly higher than actual crime stats. Again, I am not excusing rape. But our discussions are laden with mines and as I have learned — cn enrage some to engage in all manner of retaliatory responses.

So again, I come back to another innuendo you have made. Nothing in my comments suggests rape is to be condoned. Whether a women is totally free and clear of all cuplability in fostering an environment that might be problematic is another question. But my comments do condone forcing sexual relations.

Poor writing aside, I stand by my comments. I think celibacy is the best course of action. When I was in the UK for a CEO conference, I met tall dance movements major. Long legs and a great voice. There was all manner of chemistry. Had I been in a better place financially — I would have stayed in the UK and swept her off her feet, despite a divorce and two beautiful girls (both off my standard). She invited me to her home for dinner. And had it not been for celibacy — I am sure there were invitations — at least I think – but just what the rules? They can be as subtle as a feather caught in a light breeze. The dance of male female communication as to sexuality can be sweet at the same time it is dangerous.
