Julia Child Centenary Dinner: You’re Invited

We were going to have a big Bastille Day dinner party this weekend, but this and that came up, and we ended up having to cancel. My cousin Daniel, who is a chef, and who was looking forward to cooking for it, said, “I have an idea for a get-together next month. Did you know that August 15th would have been Julia Child’s 100th birthday? Why don’t we have a big potluck party, and everybody has to cook something from ‘Mastering The Art of French Cooking’?”

What a great idea! I had no idea 2012 was her centenary year. Unfortunately, August 15 is a Wednesday night, and nobody wants to go to a dinner party on a Wednesday, much less host one. So we’ll do it the Saturday night after. How about you? Why don’t you call your food-loving friends and y’all do a Julia Child Centenary Dinner as well? Man, think of all the great View From Your Table photos we’d have to share from that. I’d post every one, too. And I’m sure everyone who likes the food blogging here will want to know what everyone else is cooking.

What do you think? Is it a go? If you want to use the comments section here to arrange get-togethers in your locale, or simply to see if there’s interest, please do.
