Fred, our Paris bureau chief, sends this dispatch from his recent dinner of confit de canard:

It will not surprise you that I have asked Fred, who works in real estate, to see if he can find an affordable apartment for me to rent for the month of October. We are thinking about doing a homeschooling lesson on French and European history, requiring a month-long field trip to Paris. Just in time for oyster season! “Look, children, this is Notre Dame. Let’s talk about Christianity and the High Middle Ages, and flying buttresses. You kids will be doing your homework this afternoon, while Dad plops his flying buttress down at Regis’s for huitres with  Uncle Fred.”
