Well, it’s almost done: the Drehers are going to Paris for the month of October. We’re closing this week on a one-month apartment rental for a place next to the Luxembourg Gardens. Can’t tell you how excited we are about this! The kids are going to spend the summer with Rosetta Stone, picking up what French they can, and I’m going to throw myself into Pimsleur, I think. We’re also going to be devising a homeschool program for the kids to follow, in French culture, and the culture and history of the Middle Ages.

I have a couple of friends and readers in Paris — Fred Gion was kind enough to scout out this flat for us — and I look forward to many dinners with them this fall. Also — oysters are back in season then! Perhaps a pilgrimage to Cancale will be in order. I hope also to meet any other readers I have in Paris. I will be working every day, so don’t worry, this blog will still be around. It will be odd to watch the final month of the presidential election from France.
