This from John Hanlon at Townhall is a pathetically weak effort in the politics of cultural resentment. Hanlon quotes Elizabeth Warren, whom I like a bit better every time I hear from her, as saying “I’m going for the hick vote here, I just want you to know. Maybe we could start wearing stickers that say ‘Hicks for Elizabeth’ – could we do that?”

Hanlon refers to Warren’s “elitist language” and compares it to Martha Coakley’s  reluctance to shake hands with the rabble outside of Fenway Park in 2010. But if you listen to the clip, it is clear that the interviewer is identifying both himself and Warren as Oklahoma-born hicks.

As I write, there are only three comments on the post, all of whom question Hanlon’s lame premise.
