Scott Whitlock of Newsbusters complains about an ABC News reports citing the U.S. as “the most wasteful people on the planet” and calls it “America bashing.”

Really? I would have thought that so blindingly obvious that no one could dispute it. Wendell Berry, a far wiser man than the crowd at Newsbusters, has an article in the May Harper’s that touches on the subject. He writes, “foolishness on this scale looks disturbingly like a sort of national insanity. We seem to have come to a collective delusion of grandeur, insisting that all of are ‘free’ to be as conspicuously greedy and wasteful as the most corrupt of kings and Queens.”
