Hillary sticks her oar into the rhetorical whirlpool of the Beijing Games debate today. Daniel has already discussed the futility and stupidity of such calls for an Olympic boycott. The Clinton campaign’s sudden decision to join the blackball Beijing club gives off a whiff of desperation.

Perhaps, rather than lecturing others about the Games, Senator Clinton could think about applying the Olympic Creed to her race for the White House:

The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

The winning is indeed not all. That’s something the Hillary campaign has never understood.
