This week on theamericanconservative.com, Mike Lofgren took stock of our seceding plutocracy. Scott McConnellNoah MillmanScott Galupo, and Daniel Larison reacted to Romney’s convention speech, and Galupo added his two cents on Clint Eastwood’s RNC performance. Michael Dougherty imagined the GOP ticket that might have been, and Jordan BloomMichael Tracey,  Jim Antle, Kelly Vlahos, and Daniel Larison reacted to Ron Paul’s farewell. Bloom also interviewed newly-minted Republican Artur Davis.

Kelley Vlahos traced the lonely fate of COIN’s most celebrated flack, Philip Giraldi noted that the government is increasingly acting as if it were the private sector, and William Lind challenged the conventional wisdom on Syria. Dougherty argued that libertarians represent the best hope for a realist foreign policy agenda, and Larison continued to unpack the foreign policy myopia of the Romney camp.

Rod Dreher reflected on the relationship between individualism and conservatism, Samuel Goldman revisited the American dream, and Daniel McCarthy imagined a post-boomer conservatism.
