NOTICE: My use of the term "Persian Gulp," was in no way a Freudian double entendre. Although we may well gulp at the said security commitment.

It's good to see last week's conservative meme (Hillary is ineffectual, invisible and no longer a player) superseded by this week's conservative meme (Hillary is a pushing too hard, too far, too visibly).

I guess next week Baby Bear gets to write the column?

... from coy to incoherent.

Nicely put. Combine Hillary's remarks with the latest Biden idiocy that Daniel has been taking apart and "slippery slope toward war" seems spot on; if Obama wants anything else, he'd better take control of things, fast.

Hillary's statement of today moves American foreign policy from coy to incoherent. It sounds as though we are back on that slippery slope toward war even though Obama seemingly doesn't want one. I'm intrigued/horrified about the talk about an American security umbrella over the Persian Gulp. Where's NATO, or the UN or the regional actor's themselves? The US is not the only power to rely on gulf oil. Why do we keep volunteering for these missions?
