EXCELLENT article, sir!

You've delineated and categorized the same sorts of observations I have been mentally noting for a while about these so-called "mavericks."

The only thing I can figure out about them is that they're attempting to meld the two major parties--at least in their own states--enough to be re-elected.

Graham has been sure to get lots of money for the Dems here in SC who are happy to not put up any real opposition to him.

Graham and Lieberman vomit cash whenever they're punched in the gut with the truth and then spray it all over the airwaves when it's time to campaign. And it's obvious who is feeding them all that green stuff.

Well said, Thomas. I'm a red who's against big government and I'd join this coalition you speak of.

And the right-end of neoconism is also fed up with Graham but embraced Lieberman whenever the latter criticised the Dems on their less wholehearted support for US/Israeli state-sponsored terror. What can you do?

I think the true left-progressives are no more interested in Graham than you are in Lieberman. The goal then is to build a coalition of libertarians, progressives, populists, and paleocons against the War Party.
