They already had the same monarch as England. He was Scottish. But you do echo the traditional description of Guy Fawkes as "the last man to enter the Palace of Westminster with an honorable intention", i.e., to blow it up. Which makes it all the more surprising and disappointing that he is not being commemorated with gusto in this of all years. Save Scotland and Ireland from what? But you do echo the traditional description of Guy Fawkes as “the last man to enter the Palace of Westminster with an honorable intention”, i.e., to blow it up.

Which makes it all the more surprising and disappointing that he is not being commemorated with gusto in this of all years.
