David. Thanks much for spelling out your political/philosophical framework. It's too much for me to respond to here at the moment. It's interesting. Be aware that American experience and social norms are very different from Old Labor ones, growing out a of a very different History.

William, then find someone better. Seriously. Someone is going to beat to Sarah Palin, or Glenn Barr, or whoever. Which Dem do you want, rather than any of the Dems you certainly don't want?

Jeremiah, good luck with that...

Thomas, I'm working on an article there. Hyde may have been a Republican, but the Congress that passed his Amendment was Democratic, as was the President who signed it into law.

Webb is a pro-abort.

So conservatives are supposed to be for government health care? Where in the Constitution they are supposed to be conserving is that?

Mr. Lindsay is post-right, alright. Real post-right.

David, what sort of conservatism do you profess exactly? I think I understand some of it, but I think quite a few readers here find your analysis of thinks utterly confounding. I write this in all respect. I also suspect that many readers don't know that you are writing from the UK, so may not be familiar with our little ways.

BTW, Henry Hyde of the Hyde Amendment was himself a Conservative Republican.

Jim Webb is a moderate liberal David.

"There may emerge a candidate who is all three of a better economic populist, a better moral and social conservative, and at least as good a foreign policy realist. But until such time as that candidate emerges, Webb is the “angry white man” to watch."

Bob Conley?
