McCain may have pushed for some sort of cap and trade deal, but he certainly wouldn't have wanted a single payer national health service. If you didn't like either candidate, but really wanted to make those darned neo-cons scurry off, you should have voted for Chuck Baldwin or Bob Barr or wrote in Ron Paul. Obama is not a conservative or a rightist or a centrist in any form or fashion, and I'm perplexed as to how one can reconcile being a rightist in any sense while supporting Obama vis a vis this "pro-obama conceit".
