The Kuwait News Service reports today that the Arab Group at the International Atomic Energy Agency is asking, surprise surprise, “What about Israel’s nuclear weapons?”  It’s more than a little ironic that the Iraqi ambassador to the IAEA is taking the lead: one of the big reasons the neocons pushed for the Iraq invasion was to turn Iraq into a pro-Israel, pro-American state.  Ahmed Chalabi, the chosen vehicle for this, sure pulled a fast one on “the bomber boys” (George W. Bush’s too-late-to-matter nickname for Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthammer).

We’ve all heard hundreds of times  from “pro-Israel”  spokesmen in the American media now that “our Arab allies” (that would be the Gulf monarchies, their subjects– not so much) are desperate for us, or Israel, to attack Iran–so great are their fears of Teheran’s uranium enrichment program. Well little Gulf kingdoms, now is the time to speak up.  Oh, it’s Israel’s nuclear “threat to security and peace in the Middle East and the world” you’re worried about?  Oh.  Never mind.
