Somebody thinks so.
Is the Omaha Hipster Vote Up For Grabs?

Kerry seems to agree with you, Brian. “Eat, drink and make silly commercials, because on November 6 we get hammered.” At least the Ds sometimes show a sense of humor, unlike the totally humor-impaired Rs.

Fisher isn’t a much more appealing choice to this person, from Omaha, who has been called a hipster. Kerry certainly builds excellent bridges though.

It’s not that he has political views that are right while his opponents are wrong (rather he considers “both sides of every issue”), it’s that he’s sane and his opponents are, presumably, mad. Sad stuff.

I’m not an Omaha hipster, but I am an Omahan who knows several Omaha hipsters and appreciates some of the same things and places they do, so. . . .
Anyway, last week, a Kerrey volunteer was canvassing our neighborhood and finally got around to asking me whom I intended to vote for.
“Nether one of them,” I say.
“May I ask why?” responds the Kerrey dude.
“Because I profoundly disagree with Bob Kerrey on social issues,” I explain, “and I profoundly disagree with Deb Fischer on everything else.” In other words, as a believing Catholic, I can’t vote for Kerrey and as (I hope) a responsible American, I won’t vote for Fischer.
It’s the same deal as the presidential election. It would be interesting to find out how many Americans find themselves with that same predicament this year.

Omaha actually went for Obama in 2008. There has been significant demographic and social changes over the last 20 years that have made the city a lot more progressive. That said, Kerrey basically abandoned the state since leaving the senate. I don’t blame him, but it makes it hard to win election. He has no chance.
