Ross keeps asking how the Republicans are going to attack Obama. Well, they will do something rather like this (dated 2/25). Of course, flinging the charge of anti-Semitism or of being in league with anti-Semites is the last resort of the unimaginative and intellectually bankrupt. That doesn’t mean it won’t have its intended effect.

One other thought, Obama definately looks more robust than McCain. And this is not a black/white thing.
McCain looks like the 71 year old victim of torture that he is. He just has a “broken” look about him.
Obama is a younger man who takes care of himself. I don’t want to say anymore for risk of sounding gay (not that there is anything wrong with that).
That is not going to translate well during the televised debates. Think JFK vs. Nixon, but worse.

“Obama is a younger man who takes care of himself.”
He was a pretty heavy smoker until quite recently, like 1-2 years ago recently.
Just sayin’

IF it did work, calling him an anti-semite, that would cost him roughly 2 percent of the vote?
Wouldnt he make that up from the anti-semetic people in the country?
Ok tounge in cheek sorry…
I just dont think they will be able to beat him in that manner. If they can beat him it will be on substance and there are substantial differneces between him and McCain.

Well, perhaps, but if Arthur Hu’s Index of Diversity site is correct about the demographics of contributors to the Democrats it could potentially lower his fundraising totals by 40-55%.
Not that it will, of course.

I can see some of these slurs sticking, but it’s hard to imagine that the anti-semitic slur will work. Jews in particular are not fools about such things. I think they recognize very well precisely what it means to be the target of this kind of “blood libel”, and it probably turns them off, and makes them sympathetic to Obama. The people who are engineering these slurs are exactlyt he kind of people who promote anti-semitism in the first place. There’s a reason Jews have always been sympathetic to the racial prejudices blacks have had to endure, and I think this sort of thing reminds them why.

I just don’t know. It just doesn’t feel like it is going to stick to me. Obama is looking like he has the Clinton and Reagen “Teflon coat” going on*.
That doesn’t mean he is going to win, but he is going to be hard to nail with attacks like this.
Fact is, the war, economy and inflation are not trending in the Republican direction. If those to factors continue on their current negative course the Democrats will win.
However, the Republicans are going to do everything to reduce casualties from about July on and Bernake seems determined to prop up the economy until Nov as well.
How well the Republicans can execute on those two issues will deterimine the outcome of the election.
If the Republicans do lose to a black man with the middle name of Hussein they have no one to blame but themselves … and the neocons.
*If they catch him sleeping around I think that would stick.
